Street Smarts: Traffic Safety Poster Contest

December 8 – December 16, 2017

The City of Davis returns to Davis Arts Center to display all entries from their Street Smarts Traffic Safety Poster Contest.  The theme this year is:  Rule the Road! Have Fun. Be Safe. Help the Planet.  Children from kindergarden through 9th grade were asked to create original artwork illustrating the importance of proper helmet use, using lights at night, safe bicycle riding, crossing the street safely and safe driving—including awareness about distracted driving and the dangers of talking or texting while on the road.

There will be a Second Friday, ArtAbout! reception on Friday, December 8, from 5 to 7pm.  At 5:30pm, City of Davis Mayor Robb Davis will participate in a brief award ceremony to honor these young artists.  Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in three categories (K-3rd, 4th-6th and 7th-9th grades).  The reception is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
