Join us for the kick-off of a brand new series this April! The Davis Arts Center Poetry Series meets monthly on the third Sunday at 2pm. Admission is free but donations are always appreciated and all proceeds benefit Davis Arts Center! The Series is hosted by James Lee Jobe.
The first reading will feature Andy Jones, Poet Laureate of Davis, California and Connie Post, former Poet Laureate of Livermore, California (2005 – 2009).
Andy taught writing, creative writing and literature classes at the University of California, Davis, since 1990, and since 2000 has hosted “Dr. Andy’s Poetry and Technology Hour” on radio station KDVS. Dr. Andy also coordinates and hosts the twice-monthly Poetry Night Reading Series In Davis, which has featured performances by most of Northern California’s best poets. He is the author of three published books of poetry, Split Stock, Where’s Jukie?, and In the Almond Orchard: Coming Home from War (2016). His most recent unpublished book of poetry, 25, was written for his wife, Kate.
Connie’s work has appeared dozens of journals, including Calyx, Comstock Review, Cold Mountain Review Slipstream, River Styx, Spillway Spoon River Poetry Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review and Verse Daily. She has written seven books of poetry. Her first full length book Floodwater (Glass Lyre Press 2014) won the Lyrebird Award. Her other awards include the 2017 Prick of the Spindle Poetry competition, the Caesura Award and the 2016 Crab Creek Poetry Award.
