Meeting the third Sunday of the month at 2pm, The Davis Arts Center Poetry Series typically features two readers. Admission is free but donations are always appreciated and all proceeds benefit Davis Arts Center! The Series is hosted by James Lee Jobe. Audio archives of previous readings can be found here.

The September 16 reading will feature Stan Zumbiel and Heather Hutcheson.

Stanley Zumbiel_corrected

Stan Zumbiel taught English in middle and high school for thirty-five years and has had a hand in raising four children. He first tried to turn his thoughts into poetry in 1967 while serving in the Navy. In January 2008 he received his MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. In 2016 Random Lane Press published his first book, Standing Watch. Previously his poems have appeared in Nimrod, The Suisun Valley Review, Primal Urge, Convergence, Slipstream, Sacramento Voices, Medusa’s Kitchen, and others. He continues to write in the Fair Oaks home that he shares with his wife Lynn.

 

Heather Hutcheson_editedA professor of English in Sacramento, Heather Hutcheson is the founding editor of the Cosumnes River Journal. During the semester, she promotes a language exchange between day laborers and community college students in a parking lot, and she spends summers teaching English in Oaxaca, Mexico.
