On Thursday, May 3, the region will celebrate its non-profit organizations during the Big Day of Giving.  During the 24-hour celebration, you are encouraged to make a donation to your favorite non-profits, including Davis Arts Center.  Last year, Davis Arts Center had 142 donors donate $19,509.  This year, we are asking you to help us break these donation numbers.

your-donation-doublesThis year your donation will go even further because the Davis Arts Center Board of Directors will match the first $8,000 dollars in donations.  In addition to donating, please help us attract other donors by sharing our messages via email, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

During Big Day of Giving, we will be sharing stories how art experiences at Davis Arts Center has transformed lives.  We will share instructor stories, to a 98 year old patron that was here at our beginning in 1960 to a young child who shares what she loves about Davis Arts Center.  Some of the stories will bring a tear to your eye while others will encourage a hearty chuckle.

Here is a story of how Davis Arts Center transforms lives:

I was lucky enough to discover The Davis Arts Center after recently moving to Davis with two young children.  This was a major move for my family and it felt challenging to try to get settled and to be part of a new community.  The Davis Arts Center has been a major part of my experience in getting settled and helping us plant our roots.  Every time we walk in the door of the Davis Art Center we feel welcomed with warm greetings, it’s like Cheers where “everyone knows your name!”  We can take classes that our children enjoy and help us provide meaningful family time.  Their yearly Annual Holiday Sale has provided our family a special holiday tradition with Paint-a-Plate and kids shopping that we look forward to every holiday season!  I especially appreciate how inclusive the Davis Arts Center with times of classes that work for both stay at home parents and evening hours for working families which is not common in most communities especially for working parents!  I think the Davis Arts Center is an important part of keeping Davis a vibrant and a wonderful place to call home.
