Big Day of Giving

The Big Day of Giving (BIGDoG) is a special online giving campaign that takes place on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. For 24 hours, donations (starting at $25) will be accepted through bigdayofgiving.org to support Davis Arts Center and hundreds of other non-profits in our region. All donations will be increased by incentive funds – which the non-profits will share on a pro-rated basis – contributed by local businesses and foundations.

Davis Arts Center’s goal for BIGDoG 2015 is to Double our Donors (to 175).

Doo Wop, Donate & Dessert party, May 5, 5 pm – midnight

To celebrate the Big Day of Giving, we’re throwing a free party in partnership with Davis Schools Orchestral Music Association. Join us!
5 – 7:30 pm   Student music ensembles perform
7:30 – 9:00 pm   Doo Wop Harmony class concert (dessert served at intermission)
9:00 pm – midnight   Open mic for donors, hosted by Heidi Bekebrede. (Any donor who contributes $100 or more can have a professionally-produced CD made of one song.)

Incentive Funds 

Local community foundations and businesses have contributed hundreds of dollars in incentive funds that will be shared by participating non-profits on a pro-rated basis, based on the total amount raised on May 5. This is why BIGDoG is a great day to give: the more funds raised for Davis Arts Center on May 5, the greater our share of the incentive funds will be!

More Incentive Funds 

A special thanks goes to Golden 1 Credit Union, which will contribute a total of $50,000 to non-profits that its members support on the Big Day of Giving. Here’s how it works: If you are a Golden 1 member, use your Golden 1 credit or debit card to donate to Davis Arts Center on May 5. Golden 1 will distribute the funds to the Arts Center and other organizations on a pro-rated basis. It’s that simple!

Membership fees count

Your donation to Davis Arts Center on the Big Day of Giving can be used to purchase a membership. Here’s how it works: donate online to Davis Arts Center on May 5. Then email office@davisartscenter.org before June 1, 2015 and tell us that you want all or part of your donation to be applied to membership fees. That’s all it takes! This offer applies to new memberships, membership renewals for expired members, or renewals for current memberships that expire during calendar year 2015.

Prize Challenges

BIGDoG organizers have included exciting prize challenges to encourage donations, boost funds, and add to the fun. Here are the main prizes we’re going for with our goal of Double our Donors:

  1. New Donor Challenge: $500 goes to the 3 non-profits (small, medium and large) that receive the most new donors.

You can help us win this prize by sharing our posts and messages with family, friends and colleagues. Tell them why you are donating to Davis Arts Center and encourage them to donate too!

  1. Increase Your Donors Challenge: $500 goes to the 3 non-profits (small, medium and large) with the highest increase in donors compared to their 2014 Big Day of Giving results. With over 70 teachers, 300 members, 3,000 students and 6,000 subscribers to Davis Arts Center’s e-newsletter, we CAN reach more people who value the community arts experiences we provide!

You can help by sharing a message like “I just gave to Davis Arts Center – please give too!” right from the donation website. Use hashtag #BIGDoG2015. (You will be prompted to log in to your social media account if you haven’t already).

  1. Night Owl Challenges: If you often stay up past midnight, you can help us win the Regional Blast-off Challenge ($5,000 for the first donation of the day at 12 am) or the Regional Landing Challenge ($5,000 for the last donation at 11:59 pm). Last year we won a $500 prize for the Yolo County Blast-off Challenge, so it can be done!
  1. 100% Board Giving Challenge: Kudos to our Board members who have all committed to donating to Davis Arts Center before noon on May 5, making us eligible for a drawing to win a $3,000 prize

Save your donation receipt for a “goodie bag”

After donating, you will receive a receipt by email that will include a link to a “virtual goodie bag” with discounts and perks offered by area merchants. Hold onto your receipt, as you will need to show it in order to redeem discounts. (Note: Since Big Day of Giving is a program of GiveLocalNow, GiveLocalNow will appear on your credit card statement).
