Athens Guitar Duo to perform at Davis Arts Center.

Davis, CA – Davis Arts Center’s 6th Annual Classical Guitar Concert Series continues with a performance by the Athens Guitar Duo on March 7 at 7 pm.

First constituted at the University of Georgia, The Athens Guitar Duo (AG2) has been dedicated to exploring the depth and wealth of the guitar repertoire for the past nine years. AG2 members Matthew Anderson and Dusty Woodruff have performed throughout the United States, Europe, and the People’s Republic of China, consistently impressing audiences and garnering excellent reviews for “their passionate, meticulous, and masterful artistry.”

Both Anderson and Woodruff play guitars built by master luthier Kenny Hill, including an extremely rare 11-string guitar that extends the ensemble’s range. At the Arts Center, they will present an eclectic program that features music composed, roughly, in the 20th and 21st centuries and from around the world.  The program will feature one world debut performance of Cody Brookshire’s Prizm (2014), a duo version of the famous Recuerdos de La Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega, as well as an exciting array of compositions and arrangements from Finland, Sweden, Spain, Argentina and the United States.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 students and seniors, and $5 children 12 and under. Davis Arts Center members receive a 10% discount on tickets purchased in advance. Discount does not apply to children’s tickets. For more information on the series and to purchase tickets, visit www.davisartscenter.org/events/classical-guitar-concert-series/ or call 530-756-4100.

Davis Arts Center’s Classical Guitar Concert Series will continue with performances by DuoSF, duosfguitar.com, on April 11; Yuri Liberzon, yuriguitar.com, on May 2; and Tatiana Senderowicz on June 13.
